Transport Online – Eighty fired at bankruptcy Kuma Transport

NIEUW-AMSTERDAM – Last Friday, the bankruptcy trustee dismissed the eighty employees who were employed by Kuma Transport and Kuma Expeditie, declared bankrupt last week. Sybrand Rissik reported this to Transport Online on Monday morning when asked.

It bankruptcy has been requested by the company itself. “The reason they have given is the fierce competition with foreign transport companies, especially from Eastern Europe, who can offer much lower prices due to lower wages. Customers opt for these lower prices,” the bankruptcy trustee explains.

Work is still continuing at the company. “Work continues on a limited scale, probably until the end of the week,” said Mr. Rissik.

Whether a restart will take place is still uncertain, but the curator does not consider this as likely.
