CARACAS (Sputnik) – The Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office reported the arrest and imprisonment of citizen Matías Salazar, who kept a woman locked in an apartment in the city of Maracay, Aragua state (north), for 31 years.

“He kept the victim locked up for 31 years in an apartment; before the elements of conviction presented by the Public Ministry, Matías Enrique Salazar Mouture was deprived of liberty [56 años], for his alleged responsibility for the violence and sexual slavery of his 49-year-old partner, a fact detected on January 24 of this year in Maracay, Aragua state, “said the statement published by the Prosecutor’s Office on Twitter.
According to the text, the victim managed to escape and denounce Salazar, who was later arrested by the Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC), who was charged with four crimes.
“They accused Salazar Mouture for allegedly incurring the crimes of psychological violence, threat, sexual violence and sexual slavery, provided for in the Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence, with the aggravating of article 99 of the Criminal Code “, details the statement.

The local press had reported that the victim named “Morella” had been held by Salazar since December 1988, who kept her in an apartment where he “threatened and severely beat her and if she did not agree to have sex with him, deprived her of water or food. ”

The Prosecutor’s Office agreed to the headquarters of the Regional Police, located in Maracay, as a place of confinement.
