Cochin: On October 16, 2017, the High Court rejected the plea of ​​declaration of illegal hartal by the UDF. The high court said that the loss incurred following the hartal cannot be recovered from Chennithala.

The high court pointed out that the hartal is not illegal and parties have the right to call peaceful protests. The HC rejected the plea of ​​Madambally panchayat member Sojan Pavios demanding that Ramesh Chennithala be reimbursed for the hartal.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has called for a hartal in the state against the central and state policies. Following the hartal, many cases were registered in different parts of the state.
