In the US, at the age of 103, world-famous actor Kirk Douglas died. He was considered the last representative of the “golden era” of Hollywood. The sad news was reported by his son, actor Michael Douglas, on his Instagram page.

After leaving school, Kirk began studying at St. John’s College. Lawrence University. An amateur wrestler, he managed to get a sports scholarship. After graduating from college in 1939, Iser went to New York and entered the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Art. The young man could not pay for his tuition, but he made the impression on the auditors that he was given a scholarship.
Douglas’s debut on the big screen took place in 1946. In the play “The Strange Love of Martha Ivers” by Lewis Milestone, he plays the humiliated husband of the heroine Barbara Stanwick.
Since the early 1950s, Douglas has become one of the leading actors. He mainly specializes in the images of raw, brave men, western heroes, police officers. Fulfills both positive and negative roles. His most famous films are “Spartacus”, “Paths to Glory”, “Champion”, “Evil and Beautiful” and “Thirst for Life”.
Douglas’s career, with varying degrees of success, continued until 1999. At the same time, in 1996, Kirk, who smoked two packs of cigarettes a day, had a stroke and as a result his speech did not fully recover.

In addition to the films, Kirk Douglas has published two autobiographies and several fiction books that have received acclaim from literary critics.
During his career, Kirk Douglas was nominated three times for an Oscar, but received only an honorary Oscar – “for 50 years of creative and moral effort in the cinema community.”
