The Chilean Government launches a platform to denounce irregular police procedures


SANTIAGO (Sputnik) – The Chilean Ministry of Interior launched a digital platform for people to make claims and complaints against the actions of the officers of the Investigative Police (Civil Police) during a police operation.

“Minister Gonzalo Blumel leads the launching ceremony of the new complaints web platform of the Chilean Investigative Police [PDI] which allows claims to be made for behaviors carried out by officials of the institution, “the Interior Ministry said through its Twitter account.

Complaints can be made by any citizen, institution and even by a police officer on the PDI website, with their name or anonymously, which will be reviewed by specialized personnel of the same institution.

“This is a clear signal from the PDI regarding its commitment to transparency and good police action, fundamental principles of the institution,” Blumel said during the presentation of the website.

The minister clarified that “after October 18 [cuando comenzó el estallido social en Chile] these principles have become a priority issue, and measures such as these strengthen citizen control in institutions. ”
