LA PAZ (Sputnik) – The transitional government of Bolivia has announced that it has called for the suspension of the construction of a 351 million dollar nuclear center contracted with the Russian group Rosatom for alleged constitutional violation.

“The paralysis of the construction of the Nuclear Technology Research and Development Center is being instructed, until the Plurinational Legislative Assembly [parlamento] and the Attorney General’s Office said about it, ”said the executive director of the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN), Juan Alfredo Jordán.

The chief made the announcement in a statement released by his office, arguing that the contract between the past government of Evo Morales and Rosatom would not have been approved by the parliament, as mandated by the Constitution, and would have confidentiality clauses that prevent its control.
