Suspension of Hans Vonk at Ajax Cape Town for “accusation of misconduct” – Sport

Hans Vonk, former goalkeeper and former football manager at SC Heerenveen, is in the peninsula as technical director of Ajax Cape Town.

He was suspended for the second time in a short time pending an investigation into “serious allegations of misconduct.” What exactly is going on is not clear. For the time being, Vonk himself is silent. “I can’t respond.”

Head trainer Andries Ulderink has left the Cape Town club. He asked director Ari Efstathiou to lift Vonk’s suspension, but that request was not honored. Ulderink therefore reported sick last week and is leaving Ajax Cape Town immediately.

He has consulted with Edwin van der Sar, director at the Dutch Ajax. The Amsterdam club has control over the South African branch, but has been in conflict with Ari Efstathiou for a long time, who is also a shareholder.

Efstathiou is very disappointed in Ulderink. “It is disappointing that he is challenging Vonk’s suspension,” he says. ,, We don’t allow ourselves to be blackmailed by the head coach. I think it is unprofessional that Ulderink reported sick the day before an away game. I could only accept his resignation. ”

Ulderink was busy with his second and last season at Ajax Cape Town, the surprising leader in the South African first division. His departure is therefore a few months earlier than planned.

Ajax is disappointed with the way Ajax Cape Town has dealt with head coach Andries Ulderink and head of football affairs Hans Vonk “As a major shareholder, we are dissatisfied with recent developments and what has been communicated by Ajax Cape Town,” said a spokesperson for the league leader in the Premier League.

“In our view, Andries Ulderink and Hans Vonk did an excellent job. This can also be seen in the upward trend that has been underway since Ulderink has been head coach and Vonk has been appointed head of football affairs. We are talking to the director of Ajax Cape Town and do not find it constructive to go into it more deeply through the media. ”
