An Indian wrestler wins gold after 27 years in the Greco-Roman category at the Asian Wrestling Championships. In 1993, Pappu Yadav won the gold medal in the Asian Greco-Roman 48kg category. Sunil Kumar came back from behind in the semi-finals to reach the final (5-0).
In the semifinals, Sunil Kumar scored an unbeaten 12-8 victory over Kazakhstan’s Azmat Kustubayev, 1-8. Sunil Kumar, who reached the final last year, had to be satisfied with silver. Another Indian player, Arjun Halakurki, won the bronze in the Greco-Roman 55kg category.
