31 new cases of COVID-2019 infection were registered today, Thursday in the Republic of Korea, and the total number of infected people in the country was 82, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health.
According to him, 30 of the new injured are Daegu residents, located 300 km from Seoul.
The authorities decided to test for the presence of a new coronavirus in all patients with related symptoms, after the infection spread inside the country on Wednesday.
Currently, the country’s medical centers have the potential to conduct up to 5,000 such exams daily, but by the end of February, these exams are supposed to increase to 10,000 a day, according to local media.
The Ministry of Health said that such measures will quickly identify carriers of the virus and prevent its spread.
The President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-in, expressed concern about reports indicating a significant increase in the number of people infected with the new Coronavirus, stressing the importance of protection against the further spread of infection.
