The Kiwis started by answering the same question for India. New Zealand opener Martin Guptill made 85 off 15.4 overs after being dismissed for 32. Tom Blendel struck out nine in the third. But Henry Nichols put the hosts on a strong footing when they hired Rose Taylor. Kohli’s flying throw was bowled in the 29th over by Bumrah. Nicholls struck 78 off 82 balls.
Taylor is seen to be building an alliance with fellow skipper Tom Latham. Latham’s half century in 38 balls. Kuldeep sent Nilke Latham out for a personal score of 69 but that was not enough for India. Taylor hit his 21st century in 73 balls with the help of New Zealand. Shamsi was dismissed in the 46th over by Neesham (9) and Granholm (1). Mitchell Santner (12 *) and Ross Taylor (109 *) were all out for 84.
Shreyas, Rahul and Kohli; Stuck to the beat
Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli batted to give India a huge score of 347-4 at Hamilton. Shreyas (103 off 107), Rahul (88 * off 64) and Kohli (51 off 63) were the other batsmen. Shreyas’ maiden ODI century is born in Hamilton. Kedar Jadhav’s unbeaten knock of 26 off 15 balls with Rahul was crucial for India to put on a massive score.
In their ODI debut, Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shah added 50 runs for the first wicket. Shah scored 20 in the first ODI of his career. Mayank Agarwal was dismissed for 31 runs. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer added 102 for the third wicket and Shreyas and Rahul for 136 runs. India were bowled out for 85 in their 10 overs and 77 against Bennett.
