Tennis player Roger Federer will only take action on Roland Garros this clay season. The 38-year-old Swiss skips all other clay tournaments.
Last season, Federer took part in the Madrid and Rome Masters tournaments in the run-up to the Paris tournament. He then stranded in the semi-finals of Roland Garros, the tournament that he won in 2009.
Federer has been selecting his tournaments more and more selectively in recent years. Two years ago, the twenty-time grandslam winner did not play at all on clay. Federer has only shown himself this year at the Australian Open, where he was eliminated in the semi-finals by the later winner Novak Djokovic.
Federer will defend his title in Dubai at the end of this month and will continue to play until Roland Garros – which starts on May 24 – only the Masters tournaments of Indian Wells and Miami.
