From Thursday, the “Model of Rome”, the showpiece of the Museum of Art and History in the Cinquantenaire in Brussels, can be seen again. Restoration work was carried out for six months. A renewed set-up allows visitors to view the model from a meter away.
A team of six restorers meticulously cleaned the model. A lot has been added around it. There are four ancient Romans on large video screens: a female gladiator, a senator, a young architect and a slave who has been released. They speak to the public in Latin. And with Virtual Reality glasses you can walk around in Rome.
