“The so-called peace plan is nothing more than an agreement between Netanyahu and Trump. We cannot call it a peace plan. This is only part of the election campaigns of these two leaders.” Istiyye said, adding that Palestine, which does not include Jerusalem, does not recognize the right of Palestinians to return, does not touch 720,000 Jewish refugees living in 221 settlements and has no sovereignty.
Stating that the peace plan imprisons Palestinians on islets to be connected by bridges and tunnels, Istiyye said that Trump’s plan was born dead and will soon be buried in history.
Ishtiyye urged European countries to oppose Trump’s peace plan and to recognize the Palestinian State, the capital of which was East Jerusalem in the 1967 borders.
On January 28, US President Trump announced the unilateral Middle East peace plan to the public at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
Trump said that Jerusalem would be considered the “indivisible” capital of Israel within the framework of the peace plan, claiming that the plan was an independent Palestinian state and “last chance” for Palestinians.
