The Egyptian Football Association announced the penalty of Zamalek after he withdrew from the top match against Al-Ahly, which was scheduled to be played last Monday, in the Egyptian Premier League.
Through an official statement on the official account with “Facebook”, the Egyptian Football Association affirmed, “Al-Ahly was considered the winner of the match 2-0.”
The statement added that “3 points will be deducted from the balance of Zamalek at the end of the 2019-2020 season and the team itself will be rearranged within the final schedule of the competition.”
The statement added that “a penalty was imposed on the club of Zamalek, amounting to 200 thousand pounds, to be paid to the Federation treasury within a month from its date.”
The Competitions Department had considered the Zamalek team to withdraw from the match based on the referee and match observer reports, and pursuant to the provisions of Articles 46 and 47 of the Competitions Regulations and Item 30, paragraph 2 of the conditions and system of the competition.
Al-Zamalek club refused to play Al-Ahly match last Monday night, and announced that the team bus that was carrying some of the youth team players could not reach the match stadium.
Mortada Mansour, president of the Zamalek club, earlier in the media, refused to impose any penalty on the team, and threatened to resort to the sports court.
Zamalek is currently in third place in the league standings with 31 points, a difference of one point from the Arab contractors, but Zamalek has a lower match.
Zamalek is preparing to face Esperance next Friday, in the away leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
