Non-milk fat in cheese was discovered by BFSA inspectors


Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) found a high content of non-milk fat in a cheese sample taken at a check last week, the agency said.

The sample is from a product, declared as cow cheese and produced by a Bulgarian business operator.

Agency inspectors check the manufacturer. Full tracking of the quantities produced and commercially available is made they will be immediately downloaded.

There are found to be imitation products that are not pre-packaged

The manufacturer’s infringement will be fined. The Food Law provides for a fine of BGN 2,000 to BGN 4,000. For a first offense and for a second offense up to BGN 6,000

During the inspection in Sofia they were taken a total of 8 samples of dairy products that were tested for non-milk fat. Sampling was carried out in the presence of representatives of the Consumer Commission, the two dairy farmers’ associations in Bulgaria and the Active Consumers Association.
