RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) – A Lithuanian tourist was killed and his partner raped on a beach in the Brazilian city of Paraty (state of Rio de Janeiro, southeast), military police sources confirmed to Sputnik.
The Secretary of State of the Military Police told Sputnik that on Thursday morning the police went to Praia do Sono, in Paraty, and “found a deceased man and a woman who would have been the victim of rape.”
She was treated at Paraty hospital, and a 37-year-old suspect was arrested.
According to local press reports, the Lithuanian tourist was 37 years old and was spending a vacation with his partner, a 35-year-old Brazilian.
The alleged aggressor would have entered the house where they were staying in order to rape the woman, and tied the man to a chair and killed him with a white weapon.
The Praia do Sono is within a natural park, and can only be accessed by boat or by an hour-long road.
In the area there are few neighbors, who receive tourists in rental houses and small campsites.
