“Levski’s senior coach and former team defender Petar Hubchev celebrates his 56th birthday today.

He was born on February 26, 1964 in the village of Glozhene, Teteven region. In 1989 he was attracted to Levski, where he played until 1993. With the “Blue” he won two country cups (1991) and (1992), a champion in (1992/1993) and played in the fall of the championship season (1993/1994 ). In 1993 he was elected Footballer # 2 of Bulgaria. For Levski there are 125 matches in the Bulgarian championship, 29 matches and 2 goals for the national cup and 9 matches in the Euro tournaments (4 for CASH, 4 for KNK and 1 for UEFA).

His first game in the national team of Bulgaria was on April 25, 1984 against Greece. He is confirmed as a central defender. Peter Hubchev is a solid title holder in the defense of the Bulgarian national team, with which he won a bronze medal at the 1994 World Cup in the United States (playing in 7 games). In 1996 he participated in the European Championship in England (in 2 games). His last national team match was on September 1, 1996 against Israel (1: 2) in Tel Aviv. He has played 35 games in total and has scored 1 goal.

In 1993, he was drafted into the German Hamburger, with which he participated in the Bundesliga Championship and wore the captain’s belt of the team. In 1997 he transferred to another German team Eintracht (Frankfurt), where he ended his career as a football player in 2001. In the First Bundesliga of Germany he played a total of 128 matches and scored 5 goals. In the Second Bundesliga recorded 44 appearances and 2 goals scored.

At the age of 38, he was an assistant coach at Eintracht (Frankfurt) and then a senior coach for the youth formation. In 2002 he was assistant coach of the Bulgarian national team, headed by then Plamen Markov. The team qualified for the European Championship in Portugal in 2004. At the end of the summer of 2016 Peter Hubchev was appointed coach of the national team of Bulgaria. In the 2019/20 season he takes over Levski, with 28 games so far, recording 17 wins, 6 draws and 5 losses.
