Seven million citizens will receive $ 10,000 (US $ 1,280 – US $ 92,000) in aid to help stave off a recession-hit economy following the outbreak of the Corona virus in Hong Kong. Finance Secretary Paul Chan announced the plan in the annual budget.
The plan was aimed at reversing the worsening economic situation caused by the coronation spread along with political unrest. All citizens over the age of 18 are paid to increase their purchasing power and reduce their financial burden.
In Hong Kong, 81 people were affected by coronation. Two of them died. The fund had already been announced as a relief for the beleaguered hotel and travel sectors as the corona spread.
