Herds in Belgium awaiting record transfer: ‘It’s up to them’

This season, Wesley Hoedt is rented out by Southampton to the Belgian Royal Antwerp FC. The Dutch defender can be taken over for eight million from the English club. Hoedt himself does not yet know what the situation is.

“It is up to Antwerp to decide whether they can and want to set that record amount,” says Hoedt in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad. “If they choose the option, they must also fulfill certain obligations towards me – those are the conditions.”
Hoedt’s requirements are clear. He wants to play at the highest possible level. “Yes, I just want to play in the Europa League again, maybe even the Champions League.”
“It turned out in the winter that clubs from the top competitions were interested again. That’s great, that means I’m on the right track again. But let’s wait and see what happens in the summer. I want to end the season anyway with something tangible – a cup or a European ticket. ”
In 2015, Hoedt (25) moved from AZ to SS Lazio. It was sold to Southampton in 2017, which has already let it to Celta de Vigo.
