Gael Monfis grabbed the title in Rotterdam – Tennis – Men


The Frenchman Gael Monfis won the title of the tennis tournament in Rotterdam (Netherlands) for the second consecutive year, with a prize pool of € 2.155 million.

Number 3 Monfis defeated Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliasim 6-2, 6-4 in 86 minutes. The Frenchman made two breakthroughs in the first set and led 5-1 in the second. At 5: 3, Monfils wasted four games and lost his pass. However, he closed the game in the tenth game with his fifth match. The 33-year-old Monfis is the first tennis player since Robin Soderling in 2011 to defend his title in the tournament.

Since 2016, the Frenchman has 14 wins in 15 games in Rotterdam. The only match he lost was at the final in 2016 by Martin Kližan. For the Frenchman, this is the second title of the season and a tenth trophy in ATP tournaments after playing a total of 31 finals.
