MPs receive at least 7,700 euros per year in fees credited to their account. But the Tax and Customs Administration is already going to ask questions if they receive more than 2,400 euros net from their boss on an annual basis. “This is border exploration, and I even think it is exceeded,” says tax specialist Michiel Spanjers.
Jan-Bertram Rietveld, partner at tax consultancy firm EY: “These fees seem incomprehensibly generous, that might just be investigated.”
The Ministry of the Interior has announced that the tax authorities have approved the generous reimbursements.
