EKATERIMBURG, RUSSIA (Sputnik) – More than 3,000 troops from the Central Military District (DMC) of Russia participate in the exercises that began in Siberia, the Urals, the Volga region and also in Tajikistan, the DMC reported.
“Tactical exercises include units of the quartered motorized infantry brigades in the Terái Territory, Kemerovo and the province of Orenburg, as well as units in the division of quartered tanks in the provinces of Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk and at the base Russian located in Tajikistan, “the statement said.
The military will alternate offensive maneuvers with reconnaissance missions and flank marches, ambushed groups will act in interaction with Orlan-10 drones, Msta and Grad artillery systems and Sani mortars will be used.
Mi-24 and Mi-8 multipurpose combat helicopters will guarantee ground units support from the air.
The exercises will last until the end of the current week.
The Central Military District covers territories of the Volga region, the Urals, Siberia and other 29 Russian regions, the Russian bases located in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are attached to the DMC.
