“Obviously, these measures are against Venezuela, but we are also seeing the overflow of the violation of the international framework, without any justification (…) Of course, as a country, it affects us a lot, not only this measure but that escalation against the economic issue, “he said.
On February 18, the US Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on the Russian company Rosneft Trading S.A. and one of its directors, Didier Casimiro, for his collaboration with Venezuela.
The government of US accuses Rosneft Trading S.A of handling Venezuela’s oil exports to avoid the sanctions that Washington imposed on the South American country.
Paravisini, a member of the Economy and Gas, Energy and Water Subcommittee of the ANC, said that the measures imposed against Rosneft demonstrate the incompetence of US diplomacy.
“This constitutes a demonstration of incompetence, of politics and diplomacy on the part of the United States that, through a wrong strategy, from beginning to end continues insisting on continuing to do that,” he said.
The Venezuelan government announced that it will add to the complaint that it introduced on February 14 before the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the US, these new measures against the Russian company, considering that they seek to affect the Venezuelan oil industry.
“The unilateral coercive measures of the US against Rosneft Trading, are directed against our oil industry, its workers and the Venezuelan economy; they continue to attack the people of Venezuela, trying to generate suffering and difficulties,” said Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza.
