If it is up to the FC Utrecht supporters association, the Domstedelingen will be on the pitch tomorrow for the catch-up match against Ajax. The chairman hopes that his club can still benefit from the many injuries to the team from Amsterdam. That the game will be played tomorrow, however, is quite unlikely, they also understand in Utrecht.
“The cancellation is of course good for Ajax,” Teun den Hartog of the FC Utrecht Supporters Association told the Algemeen Dagblad. He is referring to the list of injuries that Ajax has due to, among other things, the lack of strong holders such as Hakim Ziyech, Quincy Promes and David Neres. “That is why catching up on Monday evening seems to me to be the best solution, then we will have had it”, says Den Hartog.
“Safest for everyone”
Because both Ajax and FC Utrecht have to take part in the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup during the week, it is virtually impossible that the mutual meeting will be scheduled this week. Den Hartog understands that the game was canceled. “Now there is clarity early and we all have a free Sunday. It is no different. But this is the safest for everyone. It is better that they decide now than if most supporters are already on their way.”
