ANTIOQU√ćA (TURKEY) (Sputnik) – At least 13 Turkish soldiers died as a result of an air raid against a Turkish observation post in the Syrian province of Idlib, a military source told Sputnik.

At least “13 Turkish soldiers were killed and some were injured in an air strike against the Turkish observation post in the village Kansafra” in Idlib, said the agency interlocutor.

Syria has been experiencing a conflict since March 2011 in which government forces face armed opposition groups and terrorist organizations.

The tension in the demilitarized zone of Idlib, created in 2018 by an agreement between the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, increased in early February due to the exchange of attacks between the Turkish and Syrian military that occurred in through the offensive of the Syrian Government to recapture that province, the last bastion of terrorists and rebels.
