A man who threatened to kill the US president was arrested near the White House.

Washington police have arrested a man who threatened to kill US President Donald Trump near the White House, according to Sputnik.

Security forces identified the man as a resident of Florida with a knife he intended to use to kill Trump, the Washington Post wrote.

He has been detained for carrying banned weapons and threats.

According to security forces, the knife had a 9-cm-long blade embedded in the left leg. Also found on his right arm was an empty backpack.
