A diplomatic source in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, announced today, Tuesday, that US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Affairs Kurt Donnelly will visit it on Friday.
Baku – Sputnik. The source said to “Sputnik” that “Donnelly will participate in the sixth meeting of the Advisory Council of the Southern Gas Corridor, which is scheduled to be held on February 28 in Baku.”
It is mentioned that the Southern Gas Corridor is considered one of the priority projects of the European Union and it is assumed that the Azerbaijani gas will be transported from the Caspian Sea region via Georgia and Turkey to Europe.
It is reported that Azerbaijan cooperates with NATO under the “Partnership for Peace” program. NATO approved the document for the fourth phase of the Partnership Business Plan in 2015-2016. As part of this plan, meetings are held between NATO officials and Azerbaijani officials to discuss and analyze the partnership actions.
