Adrian Andreev was eliminated in the first round of the $ 25,000 prize pool in Florida. The 18-year-old Bulgarian, ranked No. 663 in the world rankings, lost to eighth placed and No. 429 Ronald Slobodchikov by 4-6 4-6.
The qualifier Andreev missed a 3-1 advance in the second half and finally saved three games and could return the breakthrough at the most important moment. However, he failed to do so and after 2:14 on the court he left the race.
In the fourth game of the match Slobodchikov had to save four breakballs, but he did well and immediately used the rhythm to break the submission of the Bulgarian for 3-2. By the end of the game, Adrian had another chance to break, and at the same time he had two break points. The Russian, however, closed the game 6-4.
After the break, the 18-year-old tennis player from Bulgaria improved his game and made it 3-1, but his opponent immediately returned to the match. Slobodchikov made a series of four straight games, led 5-3, and then Andreyev missed a breakthrough point when the Russian served to win.
World No. 429 turned the game around and made it to a game of football. Adrian stuck to the fight and reflected a total of three such dangers, while guaranteeing two chances to rebound. He failed, however, and from his fourth attempt the Russian finished the match 6-4 6-4.
Yesterday the Bulgarian played a very strong game and beat the top-seeded Jaume Malfoy by 6-1 6-2 in an hour and a half to enter the main scheme. Andreev finished with 70% of points earned on first service and 48% on second. He only allowed one break in the match.
Last week, Adrian ended his participation in the Florida tournament with a prize pool of $ 25,000. In his second game of the main scheme, the 18-year-old Bulgarian lost to Alex Rybakov 3-6 6-7 (5). Previously, he recorded one success in the basic scheme and two in qualifications.
