“Today everyone has been transferred to the Ntra. Mrs. de Guadalupe Hospital, in La Gomera, the island where they were. They will remain admitted and isolated until the results of the analyzes are obtained,” said the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands Government.
These are two people who were in contact in Germany with a patient diagnosed with coronavirus, and three others who lived with the same address.
After receiving a notice from the Spanish Ministry of Health, the Canarian Government proceeded to activate the study protocol for possible cases of the virus originating in China that caused 170 deaths and more than 7,700 infected so far.
These five people are in quarantine at the Hospital of the island of La Gomera until they transcend the results of the analysis, which in turn will be sent to the Carlos III Health Institute.
“In coordination with the Ministry of Health, the same protocol has been activated in the Canary Islands that has been put in place before other suspicious cases in other parts of Spain,” said the Canarian Government.
At this time there is no contagion of coronavirus confirmed in Spain, although the health authorities studied in the last days more than a dozen people with symptoms related to the virus, without any positive result.
