McLaren ran the engine of the new MCL35 for the first time, the weapon for the upcoming Formula 1 season 2020.
Members of the McLaren team, including CEO Zak Brown and team boss Andreas Seidl, gathered in the Woking workshop where the Renault engine of the MCL35 was first started.
The team placed a montage on social media, without revealing more details about the design of the new car from Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.
Fans must be patient for two more weeks to see McLaren’s new car. On February 13, the team launches the new challenger for 2020, which is commissioned to narrow the gap with the three top teams Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing.
The MCL35 is the last McLaren car with Renault engines. From 2021 the team switches to a power source from Mercedes, a combination that led to success in the late 1990s with two world titles for Mika Hakkinen.
