Libya denies news of the country’s first infection with the new Corona virus

The Director General of the Libyan Center for Disease Control, Badr al-Din Bashir al-Najjar, denied on Thursday, news and rumors circulating through social media, of recording cases of the disease in the country.

Al-Najjar stressed that raising the state of alert and preparedness to reduce the risk of the new Corona virus entering Libya, according to the report Gate Africa News.

Al-Najjar indicated that the center is in continuous contact with the National Health Regulations Coordinator at the World Health Organization and the National Monitoring Program Coordinator, to follow up the situation and take the necessary measures.

Badr al-Din al-Najjar met, today, Thursday, with the director of the Tripoli Security Directorate, Osama Owaidan, to discuss the mechanism for following up the preventive measures taken by the center to confront the Corona virus.

The new Corona virus has targeted a group of countries and regions since it appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019.

Countries infected by the Corona virus

The World Health Organization has described corona or coronaviruses as “a large group of viruses, which cause disease ranging from common cold to more severe diseases.”

Chinese media said that the number of deaths reached more than 170 people, while injuries rose to more than 7,711 cases.

Common symptoms of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, coughing, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, and in more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
