So far, Antwerp experienced a fairly quiet mercato and with Ava Dongo and Davor Matijas only brought two forward-looking reinforcements on board. On the last day of the transfer period, however, the Great Old still seems to be surprising. They would actually steal a player away from AA Gent, one of the direct competitors for the European places.
After all, Antwerp would turn out on Friday with the arrival of Louis Verstraete, according to Het Laatste Nieuws. Jess Thorup does not seem to see it in the 20-year-old midfielder, who was therefore allowed to leave this month. Charleroi had an agreement with Ghent for several weeks, but Verstraete did not like the transfer itself. A switch to the Little Owl would make him feel better.
All parties still have to reach an agreement, but that should not be a problem. For Verstraete, a multi-year contract is ready at Antwerp. He will have to increase competition in midfield a little more and compete with Haroun, Defour, De Sart, Hongla and Coopman for a place in midfield.
