- Two-day special session of assembly called for passing resolution against Center’s agricultural laws
- Congress and CPM bid – If TMC brings condemnation proposal against slogan, then they will not support it
Mamata Banerjee is so enraged by the slogan of Jai Shri Ram during an event on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that she is about to bring a condemnation motion against it in the assembly. Terming the slogan as an insult to Netaji and CM Mamata Banerjee, the TMC said on Monday that it could bring a condemnation motion in the Assembly. However, the Congress and CPM, which supported Mamata’s objection to the slogan, have bluntly stated that they will not support the condemnation motion.
The Congress and CPM said on Wednesday that they would not support the condemnation motion of the ruling Trinamool Congress to be brought in the Assembly against the slogan of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at an official function organized on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The leaders of both the parties said that if this proposal is brought, both the parties will not support it unless Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself assures the constitution and respect of the opposition in the state.
Mamta Banerjee told PM Modi – Do not insult by inviting
In fact, Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee refused to address the function in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 January, after the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’ at the event organized on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The Congress had supported Mamata Banerjee, saying that raising slogans like this is an insult to the Chief Minister, while the CPM termed it as an insult to the state.
