The players of Baroda team looked happy after defeating Punjab in the semi-finals of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Both Tamil Nadu and Baroda have made it to the finals of the T20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Tamil Nadu beat Rajasthan by 7 wickets while Baroda beat Punjab by 25 runs. This is the 7th consecutive win for both.
Baroda had a target of 161 runs in front of Punjab thanks to Kedar Deodhar’s 64 and Karthik’s unbeaten 53 runs. In response, Punjab’s team could only manage 135 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Baroda bowler Meriwal took 3 and Rathwa contributed 2 wickets in the team’s victory.
Baroda captain Deodhar played a big innings
Batting first, captain Kedar Deodhar scored 64 off 49 balls for Baroda. Karthik Kakade scored an unbeaten innings of 51 off 41 balls. He hit 5 fours and 2 sixes in his innings. While captain Deodhar hit 4 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. For Punjab, Sandeep, Mayank and Arshdeep took 1-1 wickets.
Meriwal took 3 wickets
Punjab’s chasing the target of 161 runs, Punjab’s captain Mandeep Singh’s unbeaten 42 runs off 24 balls could not win the team. Mandeep hit 3 fours and 3 sixes in his innings. Apart from the captain, Gurkeerat Singh Mann scored 39 runs off 37 balls for Punjab. For Baroda, Lukman Meriwal took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs and Ninad Rathwa took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs.
Tamil Nadu made the finals for the second time in a row
Tamil Nadu made it to the finals for the second time in a row. Rajasthan scored 154 for 9 wickets. In reply, Tamil Nadu did not start well. 2 wickets had fallen for 17 runs. Dinesh Karthik (26 *) and Arun Karthik (89 *) won with an unbeaten partnership of 89 runs. The team achieved the target for three wickets in 18.4 overs.
