Mumbai : Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has instructed to start suburban train service in Mumbai only for a limited number of passengers but due to congested conditions, there will be no congestion from February 1. This will allow everyone to travel through it and avoid any inconvenience. Apart from this, various offices and establishments in Mumbai and suburbs should improve their working hours so that everyone can be facilitated, said a statement issued by the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department.
A meeting was recently held at Varsha under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to start local train services in Mumbai within the stipulated time frame. Senior Railway officials were also present. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had instructed to ensure that there would be no rush to start suburban services for all passengers and that health rules would be followed.
The service will be available as follows:
When to travel: All passengers will be able to travel from the first local in the morning till 7 am and also from 12 noon to 4 pm and from 9 pm to the last local.
Never travel: This means that ordinary passengers will not be able to travel on suburban train services from 7 am to 12 noon and from 4 pm to 9 pm. During this time only previously specified categories of passengers will be able to travel.
In view of the need to start local travel facility for all as usual, the offices and establishments in Mumbai and suburban areas are requested to make necessary changes in their office hours, the release said. Notice in this regard has also been communicated to all the Commissioners, Commissioners of Police, Collectors of Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Times for restaurants and shops
Shops and establishments in Mumbai and Mumbai metropolitan area will be kept open till 11 pm and restaurants will be kept open till 1 pm. It has also been clarified that the requirement of maximum 30 per cent attendance of employees for shops as well as SOP issued from time to time for restaurants and food courts will be implemented.
