Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India and once a stalwart of the Congress, died after brain surgery last year. However, it was the last time he completed his memoir. Now after coming out some excerpts from his written book ‘The Presidential Years’, discussion has also started on them everywhere. In this, he has talked about everything from BJP to Congress and PM Narendra Modi to Arvind Kejriwal. However, the most shocking mention in his book is about Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who has been accused by Pranab of taking some bad decisions.
What did Pranab Mukherjee say ?: Pranab Mukherjee on the Congress’ defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections said that one of the main reasons for the party’s defeat during that time was that it had failed to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people. Mukherjee said without naming that the political inexperience and arrogance of some senior Congress leaders further damaged the party.
Pranab Mukherjee wrote in the memoir, “I think in times of crisis the party leadership should come forward from a different perspective. If I had continued working in the government as finance minister, I would have ensured Mamata Banerjee’s stay in the coalition. Similarly, Maharashtra was also badly handled. One reason for this was the decisions taken by Sonia Gandhi. I would have brought back Shivraj Patil or Sushil Kumar Shinde due to the lack of a strong leader like Vilasrao Deshmukh in the state. ”
Mukherjee wrote, “I don’t think I would have approved the formation of Telangana state. I am confident that my presence in active politics would have ensured that the Congress does not get hit like it faced in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Conflict has taken place between son and daughter over memoir: There is a conflict between his son and daughter over Pranab Mukherjee’s book The Presidential Years. In fact, the former president’s son-daughter clashed last month over the publication of his book on Twitter. Abhijeet Mukherjee said that his father’s book should not be printed without his consent. Sharmishtha Mukherjee said that no one should stop printing her father’s book for cheap popularity. Doing so would be an insult to the former president.
