The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to install the Corona vaccine to cricketers. In view of the challenges of cricket in a bio-bubble environment, the board is in touch with the government in this matter. At the same time, the board wants to conduct the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India only. The UAE is not a backup option. Board treasurer and member of IPL Governing Council Arun Dhumal said this on Saturday.
Bio-bubble required till vaccination
He said that in the bio-bubble, there is a lot of challenging for the cricket organizer as well as the cricketers. These days the domestic season is also being played in a bio-secure environment. This has to be done until every player gets the vaccine.
He said that the government is currently vaccinating health care workers and front line workers. After this, more than 50 years of age and needy people will be vaccinated. We are constantly in touch with the government, so that vaccines can also be given to the players.
Focus on making IPL in India
Dhumal said that we are focusing on holding the tournament in India only. We sincerely hope that we will also be successful in doing so. At the moment, they are not even thinking about its backup. In the current situation, India is a safe place from UAE. He said that if the situation is under control and such improvement continues, then we will do IPL in India.
Things are not right in UAE
These days new cases of corona in the UAE are increasing rapidly. At the same time, the situation in India is under control these days and the cases are continuously decreasing. In the past seven days, an average of 4000 corona cases have been reported in the UAE. When the IPL took place there, the figure was 770. At the same time, India has been receiving an average of 14000 cases in the last one week.
In contact with the government for the presence of the audience
On the presence of the audience in the first international series in the country after Corona, he said that we are constantly reviewing the situation. We want the spectators to return to the stadium during the India-England series, but will work according to the instructions of the central and state government. In the current situation it may not be 100%, but if we were allowed to bring 25% -50% of the audience to the stadium, then these would be good signs.
However, viewers have not been allowed to come in the first two Tests to be held in Chennai. The decision for the remaining matches will be taken later.
