Thousands of farmers marched from Nashik to Azad Maidan in Mumbai to protest against the Agriculture Act passed by the Central Government. The march, led by Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha, will support farmers protesting against the Agriculture Act in Delhi. The agitation will be held in the presence of prominent leaders. After that, the statement of demands will be given to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.
The march started from Nashik Golf Club ground and hit Azad Maidan in Mumbai via Kasara, Bhiwandi around 7 pm on Sunday. Thousands of farmers participated in the march in trucks, tempos, four-wheelers and two-wheelers. “Our main demand is the repeal of all the three anti-farmer laws and the enactment of a law providing for adequate compensation for agricultural commodities,” said Ashok Dhawale, president of the All India Kisan Sabha.
The march will last for three days at Azad Maidan. President Sharad Pawar, Congress state president and revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat, environment minister Aditya Thackeray, as well as prominent leaders of the state will participate in the march.
