Navi Delhi: There is good news for the countrymen on the first day of the new year. The central government has decided to allow the vaccine, developed by the Serum Institute of India and Oxford, for emergency use. The Vaccine Expert Panel has recommended approval to the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). India is the third country to recognize the Oxford vaccine after Britain and Argentina.
The Serum Institute of India is jointly developing the ‘Covisilt’ vaccine in association with Astrogenica. The vaccine is being developed on behalf of Oxford. Bharat Biotech, in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has developed a covacin, which was presented to the panel on Wednesday. Pfizer demanded more time to submit its data.
Along with Serum Institute of India, Bharat Biotech International Limited and Pfizer have also sought approval for emergency use. The first meeting of the Subject Expert Committee on Corona Vaccine was held on December 9.

Bharat Biotech has also requested all the information. Bharat Biotech has been asked to submit information on the efficiency and safety of the ongoing clinical trials to the committee. This was followed by another meeting of the Subject Expert Committee on 17th December in which further information was sought from the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech International Limited, which was submitted.
On December 30, the SEC (Subject Expert Committee) met again on a corona vaccine. According to the Ministry of Health, the emergency use of Pfizer, Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech vaccine was discussed. The meeting discussed additional information received by the SEC from Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech.
