Concerns over Team India escalated, with injured Navdeep Saini in hospital for scanning

Injuries to Team India, who are on a tour of Australia, have not abated.

Brisbane : Injuries behind Team India’s tour of Australia are not over yet. With all the key bowlers and some batsmen injured, captain Ajinkya Rahane and the team management formed a new team with newcomers and Team India took to the field in Brisbane. But in the fourth Test, India suffered another blow. Navdeep Saini, playing his second Test match of his career, was injured while bowling in the second session on the first day of the match. He left the field after bowling 7.5 overs. He was expected to return to the field today recovering from injury. But that did not happen. It is learned that Navdeep Saini was taken to the hospital for scanning. The BCCI has announced this on its official Twitter handle. India’s tour of Australia will be known as the tour of injuries in the near future. As many as 12 Indian players have been injured in this tour and in the last two months before the tour. So in the fourth Test against Australia (Brisbane Test), more than half of the players in the Indian team are new. All five Indian bowlers are newcomers. None of these five bowlers have played more than two Tests. Meanwhile, four new players have been given a chance in the fourth Test to replace the injured players. India’s leading fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah and India’s leading spinner Ravichandran Ashwin are also absent from the match. Also, Sydney Test hero Hanuma Vihari and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja have been rested for today’s match. In their place, newcomers have been given a chance in today’s match. There is another piece of news that has raised concerns for Team India. Newcomer Navdeep Saini has been injured while bowling in the second session on the first day of the Brisbane Test. He bowled 7.5 overs and left the field.

Meanwhile, the BCCI had informed about Saini’s injury on Twitter yesterday (January 15). The BCCI had tweeted, “Navdeep Saini has injured his thigh muscles and is currently being monitored by the BCCI’s medical team.” Saini left the field due to injury. He bowled five balls in the eighth over, but could not bowl the last ball. Therefore, captain Ajinkya Rahane handed over the responsibility of completing the over to vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Saini did not take a single wicket in the Brisbane Test. But he had bowled hard. He was unbeaten on 2 out of 7.5 overs and scored only 21 runs.

All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Hanuma Vihari were injured in the Sydney Test. Both players have been rested for the fourth Test. Both will miss the opening matches of the Test series against England. Jadeja’s thumb is fractured, while Hanuma Vihari’s thigh muscles are injured. So now Shardul Thakur has been given a chance to replace Ravindra Jadeja, while Mayank Agarwal has been given a chance to replace Hanuma Vihari.
