Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s phone call to Home Minister Anil Deshmukh for Arnab Goswami

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has now jumped on the bandwagon over the arrest of Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.

Koshyari called Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over Arnab’s arrest. Koshyari discussed Arnab with the Home Minister.

Koshyari expressed concern over Arnab’s safety and health. The governor directed the home minister to allow Arnab Goswami’s family to visit him and talk to him.

Meeting of BJP MLA Ram Kadam Arnab

BJP MLA and spokesperson Ram Kadam has arrived at Taloja Jail to meet Arnab Goswami. Kadam said that he was going to Taloja to inquire about Arnab.

Earlier, Ram Kadam reacted to the media. You had asked the Chief Minister for time to discuss the Arnab case. But the CM has not given me time yet. Ram Kadam asked why the Chief Minister is avoiding to meet an MLA.

Also, the governing government has to be informed by the governor, this is a failure of the government, said Ram Kadam.

Two hearings today related to Arnab Goswami

Two hearings related to Arnab will be held in the court today (Monday, November 9).

One of the hearings will be held in the Mumbai High Court and the other in the Alibag Court.

Arnab Goswami was arrested in connection with Naik’s suicide. The FIR against you should be dismissed saying that this arrest is illegal. Arnab had also filed a petition in the Mumbai High Court seeking immediate bail. The Mumbai High Court is expected to rule on the petition today.

The second hearing will be held in Alibag court. Arnab has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by an Alibag court in the Naik case. But Alibag police had demanded that he be given police custody. This application will also be heard today.

Meanwhile, Arnab was shifted to Taloja Jail in Raigad district on Sunday (November 8). Earlier, they had been detained for three nights at a school in Alibag, a quarantine center for inmates. Meanwhile, the Mumbai High Court on Saturday reserved judgment on a petition filed by his lawyers against his arrest.

However, PTI quoted a police official as saying that Arnab was found in the courtroom allegedly using a phone. Raigad police found out that Arnab was using someone else’s phone in the quarantine center and was active on social media. He is said to have been shifted to Taloja Jail.

His own phone was seized on November 4, when he was arrested from his home in Mumbai. The use of mobile phones is prohibited in any cell or prison.

However, all allegations that Arnab was active on social media while using a mobile phone are false, Republic TV said in a statement.

Arnab and two others were sent to Taloja jail from the quarantine center. According to The Hindu, Goswami, along with Feroze Sheikh and Nitesh Sarda, were also shifted to Taloja Jail.

According to The Hindu, Raigad Superintendent of Police Ashok Dudhe has written a letter to senior officials demanding that Arnab be shifted to the same quarantine center as his isolation period has been completed.

When Arnab was being sent to Taloja on Sunday, he was shouting about being beaten by Alibag police as he entered a police van. His life is in danger, he was not going to talk to lawyers, he was saying.

Republic TV reported on his case that his lawyers had not been told that Arnab was being transferred to Taloja Jail.

However, this claim could not be independently confirmed. After the incident, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya tweeted a video saying that Taloja jailor Kurlekar had assured him that Arnab would not be harmed in jail. Medical treatment will also be provided if required.

It is said that many notorious goons were kept in Taloja jail in Raigad district.
