The incident took place on Sunday morning when ST personnel beat up a security guard on duty at the entrance of the transport’s Soygaon depot, which was traveling from village to village with the slogan ‘for the service of passengers’. A case of rioting has been registered against five ST employees on the complaint of a security guard. Security guard Ranidas Chavan (37) was critically injured in the attack at Soygaon depot and has been shifted to Jalgaon for treatment.
According to police sources, Ranidas Chavan, a security guard at the entrance of Soygaon depot, was on duty while three carriers Prabhu Chopde, Parmeshwar Shingade, Vijay Shriram and drivers Raju Bari and Rajendra Bhope were approaching the depot at 7 am. Station chief Kailas Bagul instructed security guard Ranidas Chavan not to allow the five to enter the depot, but security guard Ranidas stopped them at the entrance. All five attacked him. Five persons, including driver Raghunath Bari, beat the security guard with sticks and seriously injured him.
The incident had created tension in the depot area. A riot case has been registered against three carriers and two drivers on the complaint of Ranidas Chavan. The case is being investigated by Sub-Inspector Geete, Jamadar Santosh Paikrao, Subhash Patil, Ravindra Tayde and Sagar Gaikwad under the guidance of Inspector Kiran Aher.
