What is Roshni Act land scam
In 2001, the then Farooq Abdullah government implemented this act in Jammu and Kashmir. Under this scheme, encroachments since 1990 were set off under the ambit of this Act. The government said that its direct benefit will be given to those farmers who have been farming on government land for many years. But the leaders started to seize the land. In 2005, the then Mufti government gave an exemption in the 2004 cut-off. After that Ghulam Nabi Azad also limited the cut of the year to 2007.
