Andre Russell again broke expectations. Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan put on a strong performance in the final overs to give Kolkata a satisfying lead. Kolkata scored 163 runs for the loss of five wickets. Karthik remained unbeaten on 29 off 14 balls with two fours and two sixes. Morgan scored 34 off 23 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad had Ken Williamson opener with Johnny Bairstow. The duo gave the team a strong start as they completed a half-century in the first power play. KKR broke the set in the seventh over. Williamson was dismissed by Luke Ferguson on the first ball. Williamson returned with 29 off 19 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. David Warner sent Priyam Garg at number three, but he too (4) came back on Ferguson’s bowling. SRH opener Bairstow was dismissed by Varun Chakraborty. Bairstow scored 36 off 28 balls with seven fours. Ferguson’s yorker blew Manish Pandey’s (6) triphala.
