Union Food Supply Minister Ram Vilas Paswan passed away on Thursday (October 8) evening. His son and Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan tweeted this information.
He has not been well for the past few days. He is being treated at a private hospital in Delhi.
Paswan passed away while the elections were going on in Bihar.
Sharing an old photo with his father, Chirag wrote, “Dad, you are no longer in this world. But I know, you will always be with us, Miss You Dad.”
Ram Vilas Paswan was the Consumer Protection Minister in the Union Government. His condition had deteriorated in the last few days. They begin treatment. But today he lost his life.
“We are saddened by the demise of Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. Paswan, who has a long experience in politics, was connected to the common man. His demise has lost a leader who fought for the exploited and the weak,” said Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
50 Public for years life
Since 1969, Ram Vilas Paswan has held various positions in politics. He was with the ruling party for most of his career. Therefore, he was called a meteorologist in politics.
Ram Vilas Paswan quit his job in Bihar Police and entered politics. Even during the popularity of Kanshiram and Mayawati, he was known as the leading leader of Dalits in Bihar.
Minister in all post-1996 governments
Ram Vilas Paswan’s political career spanned 50 years. After 1996, he was in full-time power. He participated in every government since 1996. In this he got to enjoy the post of minister every time.
From Deve Gowda-Gujral, he worked with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Manmohan Singh and now Narendra Modi.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Ram Vilas Paswan won the Janata Dal-BJP alliance with 6 seats. His party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about six seats. He also arranged for himself to get a Rajya Sabha ticket from Assam.
He decided to quit Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government because of the Gujarat riots and secularism. He then joined the United Progressive Alliance in 2004 and became a minister.
In 2009, it split from the UPA. But he lost this election. After that, recognizing the time of elections in 2014, he took the lead with BJP.
In the meantime, he understood that it was better to remain silent on the issue of secularism. The Iftar party at his house was also closed during this period.
