The CBI team is conducting raids at the residence of Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivkumar and his brother DK Suresh in Bangalore. During the raids, the CBI has seized cash worth close to Rs 50 lakh. These raids are being carried out in a case of corruption. Regarding this raid, the Congress has said that the government’s puppet CBI raids cannot stop us.

The CBI team is raiding more than 15 locations of Shivkumar and his brother Suresh. It also includes his former residences Doddalahalli, Kanakapura and Sadashiv Nagar. Officials said that at least 60 officers are conducting raids at these 15 locations.

The raid by the CBI began at 6 am at his residence in Doddalahalli village in Kanakpura constituency, from where Shivakumar is the MLA. DK Suresh is an MP from Bangalore Rural. One of the houses being raided is that of Iqbal Hussain, close to Shivkumar.

The CBI has registered a case against DK Shivakumar, a minister in the Karnataka government, and others for acquiring disproportionate assets. The CBI team is conducting raids at locations in Karnataka, Delhi and Mumbai.

Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted, “Modi and Yeddyurappa’s duo is doing a game of intimidation with their puppet CBI conducting raids at DK Shivakumar, but this cannot stop us. The CBI should find out the layers of corruption in the Yeddyurappa government. But, ‘Red Raj’ is his only ‘insidious trick’!

He said, ‘Modi and Yeddyurappa government and BJP frontal organizations i.e. CBI-ED-Income Tax are aware that such crooked efforts can neither intimidate nor lynch Congress workers and leaders. We pledge to fight for the people. ‘

The CBI raid was condemned by senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah. Siddaramaiah tweeted, “BJP has always tried to indulge in vengeful politics and divert public attention. The CBI’s latest raid at DK Shivakumar’s house is another attempt to derail our preparations for the by-elections. I strongly condemn this. ‘
