India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Australia was recently announced. India will play a four-match Test series in Australia. Lokesh Rahul has returned to the Indian team for this series. Rahul was dropped from the Test squad last year. However, since then, he has consistently performed in ODI and T20 cricket. He has also scored the most runs in the ongoing IPL. That’s why he got a place in the Test team again. However, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar did not like the selection of a player for the Test team on the basis of his performance in ODI and T20 cricket. He had raised questions about Rahul’s inclusion. But now Manjrekar has been criticized by former India opener Krishnamachari Srikanth.
Good performance in Tests
It is Sanjay Manjrekar’s job to raise questions on anything. Manjrekar raised questions as Rahul was included in the Test squad. For what Rahul has done well in Tests before. Therefore, it is not right for Manjrekar to criticize his choice. It is not appropriate to present the question just to create an argument. Rahul has scored in all three forms of cricket, Srikkanth said.
Can’t think of leaving Mumbai
Although Rahul did not score consistently in Tests, he made his Test debut in Australia and scored a century. He plays well against fast bowling. So there is no reason to question his choice. Sanjay Manjrekar can’t think of leaving Mumbai. For people like Manjrekar, everything has to do with Mumbai. However, there is a world beyond Mumbai, said Shrikant.
