In the international market, gold was at a low of $ 1,892 an ounce, while silver was trading at $ 23.81 an ounce.
Rupee falls 16 paise against dollar
Despite a sharp trend in the stock market, the rupee fell 16 paise to close at 73.29 rupees (temp) against the US dollar on Monday in the foreign exchange market. Trading in Indian currency started at Rs 73.16 per dollar in the inter-bank foreign currency exchange market. Meanwhile, the dollar index, showing the movement of the dollar against the six major currencies of the world, fell 0.17 percent to 93.68 points on Monday.
The holding of SPDR Gold Trust, the world’s largest gold-backed exchange-trade fund, fell 0.05 per cent to 1,275.60 tonnes on Friday.
Price was so much in last session
The commodity exchange was closed on Friday due to Gandhi Jayanti. In the previous session i.e. on Thursday, the price of gold in the domestic market had increased. In the national capital, gold prices had risen by Rs 37 to Rs 51,389 per 10 grams and silver by Rs 915 to Rs 61,423 per kg. In the international market, gold was trading at $ 1,895 an ounce, while silver was flat at $ 23.60 an ounce.
