Efforts to continue to remove encroachments: Anurag Jain

State Bureau, New Delhi: Anurag Jain, President of the Special Task Force (STF) constituted by the Supreme Court and Deputy Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), has emphasized the continuation of efforts by urban local bodies and government agencies to remove encroachments. He also held a fortnightly review meeting of STF on Friday.

During the meeting, complaints received till 15 October were reviewed. Of this, 64,151 complaints were received by the STF, out of which 57,224 were processed. 929 Action Tech Report was also submitted. During the meeting, Jain directed the urban local bodies to take action on pending cases. North Delhi Municipal Corporation informed about the unauthorized construction collapse in Prashant Vihar, Club Road and Civil Lines area. New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) shared information about the removal of temporary structures at places like Connaught Place, Palika Bazar, East Kidwai Nagar, Gol Market, Sarojini Nagar, Chanakyapuri, Shankar Market, Khan Market, Lodhi Road etc. The Southern Corporation also informed about the removal of temporary structures at places like Okhla Industrial Area, Mehrauli, Amar Colony, Tughlakabad Extension, Shiv Mandir Marg, Dakshinpuri, East of Kailash and Kailash Colony Metro stations. Eastern Corporation gave information about sealing action along with removal of unauthorized construction in areas like Mandavali, Joharipur and Yamuna Vihar etc. In the meeting, the report was given by the municipal bodies to remove encroachment from about 270.05 km of road in the capital within 15 days. Out of this, the Northern Corporation informed about 69.06 km, Southern Corporation 96.45 km, Eastern Corporation 78 and NDMC 26 km to remove encroachment from the road.
