A statewide satyagraha will be held today on behalf of the Congress to demand justice for the family of the rape victim in Hathras. State President Balasaheb Thorat will participate in the agitation in Mumbai. The satyagraha will be held in all the district headquarters of the Congress in the state and the struggle will continue till the victim’s family gets justice, said Balasaheb Thorat.
Women and girls are not safe in a BJP-ruled state. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chanted the slogan ‘Save my daughter’, is silent. Thorat said the Congress party would hold a state-wide satyagraha to demand an answer from the egocentric BJP government in Uttar Pradesh and bring justice to the victims. The Hathras incident brought the country to its knees in shame. But the BJP’s Yogi Adityanath government did not show any sympathy. The case was handled extremely irresponsibly and in a dictatorial manner. He also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for threatening the victim’s family instead of giving them justice. The Hathras case should be investigated by the Supreme Court. Thorat also demanded that the district collector of Hathras be suspended.
